A motorcyclist has died after crashing into horse which was loose on the road on the outskirts of Christchurch last night.
The crash happened near the intersection of Pound and Yaldhurst roads about 8.40pm.
A police spokesperson said the motorcycle was travelling east along Yaldhurst Road when it hit one of two horses loose on the road.
Both the motorcyclist and the horse died at the scene.
The police urged anyone who saw the crash or any horses on the road to contact them.
