Man remanded over Glock theft charges

12:40 pm on 18 June 2015

A security officer facing charges related to the theft of two police-issue Glock pistols was remanded at large until next month when he appeared in court this morning.

The 40-year-old man, who is charged with theft and unlawful possession of a firearm, was granted interim name suppression by Judge Allen Roberts in the New Plymouth District Court.

His lawyer Kyllie Pascoe sought name suppression to protect the identity of the company the man works for, and sought the remand as she is seeking further disclosures from police.

The pistols went missing from the New Plymouth courthouse's evidential lock-up two years ago.

Both were used during the fatal police shooting of Stephen Wallace in 2000.
