A police dog team found Graham Carr, 66, just before midday near the Te Marua Water Treatment Plant, after information from the public helped to narrow the search area.

Constable Hamish Knight said searchers were relieved Mr Carr was found alive because it was unlikely he could have lasted much longer given the very cold conditions in the area.

Mr Carr went missing yesterday.
