An investigation into the cause of a shed fire south of Fox Glacier, where a body was found, may take some time to complete due to the intensity of the blaze.
The fire, near Karangarua, was reported during the early hours of yesterday morning.
Human remains were found in the rubble of the shed, which had a mezzanine living area.
Police and specialist fire investigators are continuing a scene examination today.
Police said the shed was completely destroyed in the fire and identification of the body will rely on forensic testing.
