Police are investigating the death of a 42-year-old man after a fight in the Hokianga town of Omapere.
Police were called to the town about 4pm yesterday.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault and breach of bail.
The police are waiting for the results of a post-mortem to determine whether the other man died as a result of the fight.
They said they were not looking for anyone else over the incident.
