One person has died and four others are injured after a crash between a logging truck and two other vehicles southwest of Rotorua.
The crash happened on State Highway 30 at Horohoro at about 1.25pm.
Police said initial enquiries suggested the fully-laden logging truck lost control and collided with a ute, resulting in the death of one man in the ute and injuries to a child.
A log which fell from the truck struck a second ute and a woman from that vehicle is among those taken to Rotorua Hospital.
The truck driver has minor injuries.
State Highway 30 was closed between Atiamuri and Rotorua while a serious crash investigation was carried out and the road was cleared. This included removing logs from the road.
