A 16-year-old accused of murdering an elderly man in Christchurch has appeared in the Youth Court.
Police found the man's body at his home in the suburb of Upper Riccarton about 9.30am yesterday.
A second home, where police believe the accused went after the killing, is also being treated as a crime scene.
The teenager will make the next court appearance on 21 August.
