A group representing bar owners in Dunedin is appealing against a new local alcohol policy (LAP) but does not raise major objections, it says.
Six appeals have been lodged with the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority against the policy, adopted in June.
After submissions, the Dunedin City Council scrapped plans to include a controversial one-way door policy and a liquor shots ban but added a moratorium on new shops selling off-licence in North Dunedin.
Hospitality Association Otago president Mark Scully said its appeal was on relatively minor points.
"Generally the industry is pretty happy with the LAP but they want a couple of points clarified, one around residential areas and possibly around entertainment," he said.
"By having an appeal in the system it gives them the chance to go to the table and discuss it with them."
Mr Scully said central city bars wanted to know what counted as live entertainment, as that would allow them to open one hour longer until 4am.
Appeals lodged include Hospitality New Zealand and the owner of Countdown supermarkets, Foodstuffs.
