The Armed Offenders Squad was called out to secure two addresses in Christchurch this morning.
Police said they had arrested a number of people in relation to an incident related to addresses in Ajax St, Shirley, and Bowenvale Avenue, Cashmere.
Detective Senior Sergeant Anderson said the CIB was investigating and no more information was available at this stage.
Both addresses are being searched and those arrested will appear in court tomorrow.
