Volunteer firefighter in court over bomb hoaxes

The man charged after four bomb hoaxes in Hamilton in June has been named as Bradley Taylor, 27.

Mr Taylor works for the Hamilton City Council as a gardener and was a volunteer firefighter.

He is facing four charges of threatening to harm people and property.

Three suspicious packages were found in Gower Park and one in Melville Park in June.

Mr Taylor appeared in the Hamilton District Court today.

Name suppression was lifted, and he was remanded on bail without plea to reppear in court on 21 September.

The Hamilton City Council said it had employed Mr Taylor for two and a half years, but would not make any further comment while the case was before the courts.
