The body of a missing fisherman has been found in the Hauraki Gulf.
The 61-year-old set out on his jetski from Waiheke Island's Half Moon Bay about 2pm yesterday but failed to return home in the evening.
The Coastguard said he was known as a well-prepared boatie.
The man's jetski was found by a police helicopter near Waiheke Island in the early hours of this morning.
Four coastguard rescue vessels and an aircraft were involved in the search and members of the public were assisting.
The man's body was found in the water between Waiheke and Motuihe Islands just before midday. The police said he had been wearing a life jacket.
