A homicide inquiry has been launched after the death of a man at Whatuwhiwhi on Northland's Karikari Peninsula.
The body of the 62-year-old man was found in a vehicle on Tokerau Beach about 10.30 last night.
Police said a 61-year-old woman was helping them with their inquiries, but there had been no arrests.
They have asked to hear from anyone who saw a red Nissan Primera car being driven around the Tokerau Beach and Whatuwhiwhi area between 7.30 and 10.30 last night.
The police are carrying out area inquiries today, examining the car, and doing a scene examination at a house in Whatuwhiwhi.
The man's name has not yet been released.
