An elderly man was beaten in a home invasion in the Auckland suburb of Pakuranga overnight.
The man, who is reported to be 85, was taken to hospital after the incident.
Police say his injuries are not life threatening and he will be discharged from hospital later today. They would not release any further information until Monday.
Detectives have been at the man's home conducting a scene examination.
