A man has died on State Highway 39 in Pirongia after he was was struck by two heavy trucks travelling north.
The road has been closed by police at the southern end of the Waikato town.
Police said the man was hit by two trucks which were passing through Pirongia.
The victim's identity is still unknown at this stage
Diversions are in place in Pirongia to steer southbound traffic off SH39, into Beechey Street, toward Te Awamutu. At Otorohonga, police are diverting northbound traffic away from SH39 to maintain a northerly course on SH 1.
An enquiry is now underway. Victim support has been offered to the two truck drivers.
