A post-mortem has been completed on a man who was found dead in his home in the Christchurch suburb of Linwood yesterday.
However, the police are not commenting on the results.
The 64-year-old was found in his Mecca Place home by a friend shortly after midday.
Cordens remain in place at the house, and police are treating the death as suspicious.
The man has been identified but his name has not been released.
A team of 15 police officers are investigating the case and a police cordon is still in place at the property.
A neighbour who did not want to be named said she believed the man has lived in the street for a long time.
"I haven't spoken to him much, he is pretty quiet.
"I think everyone in the street is pretty shocked by this, we're just waiting to hear what the story is from police," the neighbour said.
