A Taranaki father charged in the relation to the death of his two-year-old daughter pleaded not guilty when he appeared in the High Court in New Plymouth this morning.

Philip Murray Kinraid, 27, was charged following the death of Esme Claire Kinraid in June.

Justice Thomas suppressed further details of the case, including the charges.

Ambulance personnel were unable to revive the toddler when emergency services were called to a Hawera address on 26 June.

Justice Thomas bailed Mr Kinraid to an address in Dunedin and ordered him to report to the police twice a week.

Mr Kinraid, a chemical engineer, will reappear in court on 22 February.
