A man's body was found on the beach by New Brighton Pier in Christchurch this morning.
Police say a member of the public found the body at about 7am. They do not know who the man is or how he got there.
They describe him as a Pakeha aged about 40 or 50.
The man's body has been removed and police are investigating.
