One of two men hurt in a firearms callout in Rotorua this afternoon has life threatening injures.
Police launched a major response to the incident in the Western Heights area, where two people were injured.
There were multiple reports of disorder and gunshots being heard in the suburb of Western Heights, police said.
One person was taken by ambulance to Rotorua Hospital and another took himself there.
That person has since left, but police said the other man was critically injured.
It was thought a large group of men were involved in the incident. Four men have been arrested.
While there were no immediate concerns for public safety, officers would be maintaining a presence in the area.
