More than 100 wedding guests have been questioned by the police as part of an investigation into the death of a man on New Year's Eve.

Lee Rata, 35, died on New Year's Day after being assaulted at the wedding on Bonnetts Road in Kaitaia.

So far one man has been charged with his murder.

Police want to speak to a number of Mongrel Mob gang members who attended.

Detective Inspector Kevin Burke said the police were still working their way through the guest list, with many having travelled from around the country to attend.

He said while officers carrying out search warrants in Northland had made at least 10 arrests un-related to Mr Rata's death, he hoped more arrests would be made soon in relation to the assault.
