A Whanganui sex offender who targeted vulnerable children has been jailed for eight years.

Daniel Bell, 39, was sentenced in the High Court in Whanganui today after being convicted of 13 sexual offences against children dating back to 1999.

The charges related to offending against seven girls, who at the time were aged between four and 14 years old.

Senior Constable Tanya Ross said reliving the trauma of the offending had been extremely difficult for the victims and she applauded their courage and hoped the sentence would contribute to their healing.

Bell was jailed for two years in 2014 after being convicted of three indecent assault charges.
