China flight passengers exposed to measles

5:33 pm on 3 February 2016

Passengers who arrived in Auckland on a flight from China on Saturday may have been exposed to measles, health authorities say.

Auckland Regional Public Health Service spokesman Dr Richard Hoskins said a passenger on the China Southern Airlines flight from Guangzhou had the measles and was infectious while travelling.

If other passengers were infected they would experience symptoms from this Saturday, he said. The first symptoms were a fever, a runny nose, a cough or sore red eyes.

Any passengers who felt unwell should call their doctor or Healthline, Dr Hoskins said.
