A 14-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death after a crash in Masterton that killed two other boys 11 days ago.

The victims, both aged 15, died when the stolen car crashed into a power pole after fleeing the police in the early hours of 31 January.

The police said the accused, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared in the Masterton District Court this afternoon.

He had earlier been charged with driving while forbidden, failing to stop for the police and unlawfully getting into a stolen motor vehicle.
