A well-known actor facing sex charges can keep his name secret for now.

The award-winning actor appeared in the Auckland District Court today, where Judge Nevin Dawson set a date for his trial in December.

The actor denies charges of indecent assault and unlawful sexual connection.

He will keep his name suppression at least until the trial.

His lawyer, Ron Mansfield, had previously told the court that naming his client would leave him unable to work until the trial.

The actor is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing next month.
