An east Auckland man has died after falling down a cliff while doing gardening work at a beachside property.
Police said the man, who was 70, was doing some gardening at a house in Mellons Bay, near Howick, when he fell from the cliff edge.
His body was found on the beach below at about 6.30pm this evening by a member of the public who was out for a walk.
Police said they had told the man's next of kin and contacted Victim Support.
The man's death has been referred to the coroner.
