A new complex providing affordable housing for low-income iwi members has been opened in Wellington.

Fourteen homes have been built at the complex in Evans Bay, with 10 three-bedroom apartments and four single bedroom properties for descendants of Te Aro Pā.
A single unit would cost $300 and a three-bedroom unit $600 a week in rent, matching the cost of similar properties in the area.
The Crown gave a grant to Te Aro Pā Whenua Trust to build the $3.6 million complex.
Māori Development Minister Te Ururoa Flavell said the project was an example of iwi creating housing solutions for themselves.
"In my experience our people are screaming to be part of the housing solution [to the problems] that our people face," he said.
"And I've seen concrete examples like this, around the country, from Waikato across Ngāti Kahungunu in the north.
"So there's an absolute desire on the part of our people to be involved in solutions to housing, we can do it, we've just got to pull the parties together."
