Ram raid caught on camera

An early morning ram raid on a service station in West Auckland that involved three cars and up to 10 offenders has been caught on camera.

Police said a vehicle reversed into the glass doors of the Z Energy in Kumeu about 3.30am yesterday.

A group of people went inside and stole a large amount of cigarettes and cash.

The police said three cars and up to 10 offenders were involved in the raid.

A service station employee was in the premises at the time, but was uninjured, even though they were near the door when the vehicle reversed into it.

Police hoped CCTV footage of the ram raid would help identify the offenders, saying most of those involved had concealed their faces, but there was one whose face could be clearly seen.
