One or more of the five people arrested in connection with a woman found critically injured on the side of a road north of Auckland, are now charged with attempted murder.

The 19-year-old woman was found unconscious on the side of a road in Dome Valley, north of Auckland last month.

Following further inquiries, police say they've upgraded some of the charges laid against the five people.

All of them will appear in North Shore District Court tomorrow, on charges of attempted murder, assault with a weapon, kidnapping, sexual violation and aggravated robbery.

Police can't say which are facing what charge.

The woman remains in a serious but stable condition in Auckland Hospital.
