Second person hit by train in Auckland today

A person has been hit by a train in Auckland, the second to be struck today.

Emergency services were called to Middlemore Station shortly before 6pm.

Police say the person was taken to nearby Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition.

This morning a pedestrian was hit by a train at Glen Innes station and died at the scene.

Southern and eastern services were disrupted this evening but Auckland Transport says the Onehunga line has reopened and timetables will soon be back to normal.
