A 46-year-old woman has been charged with murder, following the death of a 50-year-old man in the Taranaki town of Eltham.
Rex Karaitiana was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital yesterday with suspected stab wounds but died today, police said.
The woman has been remanded in custody and granted interim name suppression.
Officers are not looking for anyone else but say they would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Eltham area on Wednesday evening and/or Thursday morning.
They are particularly interested in any sightings of a green, 1999 Ford Laser, five-door hatchback in the Eltham Kaponga area.
Police said they were providing support to Mr Karaitiana's family.
