Wool sales pick up, but not prices

1:44 pm on 30 April 2012

There's been a pick up in wool sales, although growers are still resisting letting their wool go as prices continue to fall.

At recent sales, up to the half the wool offered for auction was passed-in for failing to meet growers' reserve prices.

But at the latest sale, last week, 67% of the 13,000 bales on offer were sold.

New Zealand Wool Services International says most prices fell further last week.

But not all wools followed the trend and prices rose for types sought by processors, such as some lambs fleece and oddments.
