Farmers offered insight into new science

Sheep and beef farmers in the lower North Island are being given the chance to catch up on new science which is relevant to them.

Farmers who gather at Massey University in Palmerston North on Wednesday to hear from international and local speakers will have the opportunity to tour the university and AgResearch sites there.

Mel Poulton from Beef + Lamb New Zealand says the aim is for farmers to walk away with something useful.

"We want to be able to expose them to science and technology and tools and information which they can apply in their businessnesses right now," she says.

"But we also want to give them a little bit of insight and a little bit of exposure to some of the new science that's happening ... the new sciences of tomorrow".
