Sheep industry awards

Eminent Otago agricultural scientist Jock Allison is among the people recognised in the inaugural Beef + Lamb New Zealand Sheep Industry Awards in Invercargill.

Dr Allison was presented with an award for making a significant contribution to the sheep industry through his pioneering sheep breeding.

The man responsible for introducing and promoting sheep pregnancy and eye muscle scanning technology to New Zealand, Rowan Farmer, received a sheep industry innovation award.

And Smedley Station and Cadet Training Farm in Hawke's Bay was named winner of the farm trainer of the year award.

Several sheep breeders also received awards for genetic advances in their flocks.
