New Zealand horticultural exporters are well represented at the Asia Fruit Logistica trade show which has just opened in Hong Kong.

More than 350 exhibitors from 30 countries have stands at the show.

Horticulture New Zealand has co-ordinated New Zealand's effort.

Chief executive Peter Silcock says Asia Fruit Logistica provides an excellent opportunity for companies to make new customer contacts and strengthen existing relationships.

He says it also gives them the chance to keep up to date with current trends.

Plant and Food Research has a stand in the New Zealand pavilion.

Its chief operating officer Bruce Campbell says Asia is a growing market for horticultural products and being at the trade show provides the chance to increase understanding of consumers' needs.
