Wool prices firmed at this week's South Island sale.
Wool Services International reports that merino and mid-micron fleece prices increased by about 2% - 4% on the previous South Island sale.
Compared with last week's North Island auction, fine cross-bred fleece and shears were up to 5% dearer and coarse cross-bred fleece fetched up to 2% more.
Coarse shears prices were more mixed, ranging from 1% lower, to 4% higher.
Almost 80% of the 12,800 bales put up for auction were sold.
