Feedback sought on law change for agricultural vehicles

10:23 am on 1 November 2012

The Transport Agency is seeking public feedback on proposed changes to the law covering the use of agricultural vehicles on the road.

A two-tier system based on a 40 km/h operating speed would be established. Vehicles which travel at a lower speed will be exempt from a warrant of fitness and work time requirements.

The aim is to reduce compliance costs and provide greater operational flexibility for vehicle owners, without comprising safety.

Farming and horticulture organisations and rural contractors support the change.

Submissions close with the Transport Agency at 5pm on 30 November.
