Latest farm sale figures from the Real Estate Institute show increased interest in dairy properties in Northland, Waikato, Taranaki, Canterbury and Southland.

Overall, farm sales were up by more than a third on the November period, and the median price was almost 13% higher than the previous year.

Grazing properties accounted for almost half of the sales. Dairy farms made up about 16% of the sales .

Horticulture and forestry block sales didn't follow the trend and they were down for that period.
