It's a big week on the wine calendar with Pinot Noir New Zealand 2013 kicking off in Wellington on Monday.

The four-day event sees wine experts from around the world, and wine lovers from around the country, descend on the capital's waterfront.

Waterfront venues will showcase the main pinot noir growing regions of Wairarapa/ Martinborough, Marlborough, Nelson, North Canterbury and Central Otago.

Pinot Noir New Zealand 2013 chairman Alastair Maling says says 110 wineries are on display.

To go with the wine will be 300 kilograms of artisan cheese, 4000 pieces of stone fruit, and at least 100kg of venison and salmon.
