A Waikato farmer will be competing in the grand final of the Young Farmer contest for the second time in three years after winning his regional event.
Tim van de Molen, who owns a crop and drystock farm and also works as an agri-manager for ANZ bank, won the Waikato-Bay of Plenty final at the weekend.
He was runner-up in the 2011 grand final.
However, this time it was an extremely close result. Second place getter Dwayne Cowin, a Te Kuiti stock manager, was only two points behind.
The national final will take place in Auckland in May.
