Ravensdown wants out of Sth Australian company

2:08 pm on 4 March 2013

New Zealand fertiliser co-operative Ravensdown is aiming to sell its stake in a South Australian fertiliser company it has half owned since late 2010.

Direct Farm Inputs sells fertiliser in the states of South Australia and Victoria.

Ravendown says it wants out because that company is now selling mainly through intermediaries rather than direct to farmers that means it is unlikely to develop as a co-operative.

It is in contrast to Ravendown's other Australian operations in Western Australia and Queensland, which operate as co-operatives with strong support from local farmers and growers.
