Zespri confirms appeals against China verdicts

Zespri has confirmed its subsidiary in China will be appealing the guilty verdict and fine it received for the underpayment of customs duties on kiwifruit imports.

The Zespri Management Consulting Company in China was fined more than $950,000 by a Shanghai Court last month.

It may also have to pay reparations of up to $10 million.

Zespri said an employee of its China subsidiary who was sentenced to five years in prison, will also be appealing.
