The Dairy Women's Network will use Government funding to build leadership opportunities for women in the industry.
The network has won a $180,000 grant from the Sustainable Farming Fund.
Deputy chair Cathy Brown says the three-year leadership project includes a research partnership with AgResearch.
She says research will look at women's needs in the leadership area, developing a mentoring programme and pathways to leadership.
Ms Brown says there is currently no one place to get information on training and what's available in the industry.
She says the Dairy Women's Network has grown significantly in the past 18 months and now has more than 4000 members.
