Wool prices up this week

There was a significant boost for wool prices at this week's South Island wool sale.

A 5% drop in the value of the New Zealand dollar against the United States dollar at this sale compared with the last one in early May, helped lift prices by 3% or more for most wool types.

Just over 10,000 bales were on offer.

New Zealand Wool Services says there was strong competition from western Europe, Australia and the United Kingdom.
