Fertiliser price cuts help farmers

9:31 am on 6 June 2013

Farmers who are applying fertiliser to help their pastures recover from the drought before the winter sets in will benefit from a general drop in prices this week.

The two big fertiliser co-operatives, Ravensdown and Ballance Agri-Nutrients, are passing on lower international prices.

Ravensdown has announced price reductions of up to $30 a tonne for a range of fertilisers, including urea, superphosphate and ammonium sulphate.

Ballance has reduced prices on most of its core fertiliser products by between $10 and $80 a tonne this week.
