New Zealand log shipments to China have continued to grow.
Wood Resource Quarterly reports there has been a resurgence of demand for lumber and logs in China this year, after a drop last year.
Last year total Chinese log imports fell by 15%, and New Zealand was the only country that expanded shipments, the publication says.
Russia has for many years been the major log supplier to China, but in the first quarter of this year, Russia and New Zealand both had a 33% market share.
Year-on-year shipments from New Zealand were up almost 50% but those from Russia were down by 18%.
