AgResearch, Lincoln University confirm joint venture

AgResearch and Lincoln University have confirmed their intention to develop a formal joint venture after calling off their earlier plans for a full-scale merger.

The university and the biggest research institution in New Zealand spent three months last year investigating a merger before deciding they would achieve many of the benefits through a less costly and complicated partnership arrangement.

AgResearch says there are wide ranging opportunities for collaboration.

Chief executive Dr Andrew West says the joint venture with Lincoln will supplement what AgResearch already has going with other universities in the livestock and health, food and agritech areas.
