Fed Farmers claims credit for emissions research idea

Federated Farmers is claiming the credit for initiating the Government move to pull together a global research alliance to reduce agricultural green-house gas emissions.

The Federation is enthusiastically backing the Government's call, made at the United Nations, for coordinated international research into agricultural emissions.

The president, Don Nicolson, says he's proud the Government has picked up on his organisation's idea for international collaboration.

He says it's a way of reaching the goal of increasing food production with fewer inputs and fewer emissions.
