New Meat and Wool levies set

Meat and Wool New Zealand has notified new levy rates that took effect at the beginning of October.

The organisation will take a levy of 45 cents for every sheep slaughtered and $3.80 per head of cattle.

A recent farmer referendum decided levies for goat meat and wool would be discontinued.

Meat and Wool says the goat meat levy stopped at the end of September, but the wool levy will apply until April next year.
