Successful chemical recovery operation in Waikato

2:12 pm on 16 July 2013

A record collection of hazardous farm chemicals has been completed in Waikato.

Six tonnes of horticultural, agricultural and veterinary chemicals were picked up across the region, five tonnes more than last year.

Duncan Scotland from Agrecovery says in total this year some 14 tonnes of unwanted chemicals have been collected.

He says the popularity of the chemical collection is a sign that farmers are changing their behaviour.

Mr Scotland says Taranaki and Nelson-Tasman are the next two regions to be collected and anyone with chemicals for disposal need to book a collection date before the deadline of 9 August.
