More volume recorded by rural recycler

Agrecovery has had its biggest year yet, collecting farm plastics and old chemicals.

In the past year, 8000 farmers and growers sent more than 500 tonnes of empty chemical containers, silage plastics and chemicals for recycling or safe disposal.

That's almost a quarter more than what was collected the previous year by the rural recycler.

Chairman Graeme Peters said Agrecovery estimates its now getting about 30% of the plastic containers in circulation.

He said recovery of unwanted agri-chemicals has also increased by 37% and plastic silage wrap by 28%, but all that can grow a lot more.
