Further appointments to Fonterra inquiry

7:13 am on 16 August 2013

Fonterra's board has made further appointments to the committee of inquiry it has set up to investigate the whey contamination case.

Auckland University's vice chancellor Stuart McCutcheon joins retired High Court Judge Dame Judith Potter as the two independent members on the committee. They will sit alongside five Fonterra directors, under the chairmanship of Sir Ralph Norris.

Professor McCutcheon is a former director of the Dairy Research Institute.

An international food manufacturing and safety expert, Jacob Heida from the Netherlands, has also been hired to provide technical help for Queens Counsel Jack Hodder, who is carrying out the review for the committee.

As well as the Fonterra board inquiry, there is also an operational review and two Government investigations.
